The Great Roller Rink Rivalry (also titled as: Roller Skate Rivalry on YouTube) is the 17th episode in airing order of Season 3 of Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City. It premiered on October 28th, 2023.
Summary[]
A roller-skating rivalry between Strawberry and Orange heats up on the roller rink when Orange's competitiveness put their friendship at stake.
Plot[]
The episode begins with a shot of the berries skating through the rink. Strawberry zooms by and says how well she’s doing at skating now, crediting it all to her flantastic teacher Orange. Orange tells her that she’s doing great and orders her to follow. The two skate through the rink together until Strawberry spots Crepe Suzette doing the Triple Tiarmisu Twist. Strawberry asks if Orange can teach her the trick to which Orange denies, saying that she can’t even do it. Orange asks if Strawberry wants pizza but Strawberry dismisses her. Over at Spicy’s pizza stand Orange expresses that teaching can work up an appetite. Spicy tells her that she must be starving and points to Strawberry. Orange looks over and is shocked to see Strawberry perfectly executing a Syrupy Single Leg Slide. Orange rolls over Strawberry and asks who taught her how to do it. Strawberry responds by saying she taught herself and offers to show Orange. In a cutaway Orange expresses disbelief in Strawberry and her having to be taught something. Orange tells Strawberry to watch her and skates off. Orange performs a Donut Dip and boasts on how it’s no big deal. Strawberry compliments her and eagerly skates off to perform her own version. Orange is stunned at her tricks and states that a competition has just begun. Strawberry is confused and explains in a cutaway that every berry likes a little competition.
A montage plays of the girls out competing each other in tricks. As they skate a crowd soon forms. As Strawberry continues to out skate her, Orange becomes increasingly more jealous. Strawberry expresses how fun it’s been to which Orange tells that the only thing left to do is the Triple Tiary Musi Twist. Strawberry tells her that she said none of them were ready before. Angered, Orange stops her and tells her that she didn’t want her to feel bad before skating off. Driven by competition Orange prepares for the stunt by skating quickly around the rink. In slow motion Orange leaps into the air and attempts to perform the trick. However she fails and falls down on her back. Strawberry asks if she’s alright and Orange skates off defeated. In a cutaway Strawberry says that the competition wasn’t as friendly as she thought it was.
Orange is untying her skates as Strawberry skates over. She offers her some pizza and Orange expresses how Strawberry’s gotten really good. Orange tells her that she’s supposed to be the one good at sports and how Strawberry’s better than her. Strawberry reassures her that’s not the case and explains that she’s only good because of Orange. Strawberry tells her that friends make each other better just like whip cream and pie. Orange chuckles and asks if Strawberry can teach her the Syrupy Single Leg Slide. Strawberry smiles and the next scene shows Orange mastering the stunt. Strawberry tells her Orange how happy she is that they’re no longer competing to which Orange says how it’s “so 5 seconds ago”. As they skate by, Spicy puts up a poster promoting The Big Apple City All Skate Team Competition. The girls skate over and are excited. Strawberry asks if Orange was done competing and Orange tells her that she meant them two. She tells her how exciting it’s going to be to team up to compete against other berry’s. Orange tells Strawberry that they better start practicing and Strawberry nods. The episode ends with the two jumping and posing in mid air.
