The Costume Party is the 12th episode of the Strawberry Shortcake second season and it aired on October 18, 2004.
Summary[]
Peppermint Fizz wants to leave out Rainbow Sherbet, because she's `different' - and all Peppermint Fizz believes about is how everybody ought to be like her, but Strawberry gets the others to play a trick to teach Peppermint the importance of even being different.
Plot[]
This episode opens with the girls at Blueberry's house playing dress-up. They immediately launch into a musical number about the joys of dressing up, featuring some nods to their costumes from the previous episode. Then, Honey arrives and leads them on a chase as she stops by each of their houses, unaware they're all together at Blueberry's. After some confusing exchanges, she reveals that a new resident has moved in. The girls are excited about the possibility of new activities and decide to meet her, bringing gifts.
Each girl brings a present related to her own interests: Ginger a hammer, Angel a paintbrush, Blueberry a book, Orange a butterfly net, and Strawberry a basket of strawberries. They encounter Peppermint, who is upset about not being invited (understandably, given her past behavior). They tell her about the new neighbor and invite her to join them. They meet Rainbow Sherbet, who lives on a boat. Peppermint displays her usual hate, while the others enthusiastically present their gifts. Peppermint barely realizes Rainbow. Rainbow offers them some "grub," and Peppermint immediately assumes she means insects, highlighting Rainbow's unique vocabulary. Strawberry announces a party in Rainbow's honor for the following day. (While the show illustrates frequent parties, it's worth noting that in reality, daily parties would likely become overwhelming and diminish the specialness of such events.)
As Strawberry prepares for the party, Rainbow arrives early and meets Strawberry's pets. She playfully tosses a ball for Pupcake, but it rolls under the table, startling him. Rainbow retrieves it, soothing the dog. Shortly after, Peppermint arrives and, within earshot of Rainbow, makes criticizing remarks about her and left. Rainbow overhears, visibly upset. The other girls arrive to find her disappointed, and they help her take down the party decorations.
Strawberry, concerned by Peppermint's behavior, decides to have a brief conversation with her. Peppermint unapologetically repeats her negative statements of Rainbow. Undeterred, Strawberry advises that Peppermint give Rainbow a fair opportunity, and after some convincing, Peppermint grudgingly agrees.

Angel Cake: Peppermint said those awful things?
Orange Blossom: And Rainbow heard?
Strawberry Shortcake: I'm afraid so.

Blueberry Muffin: It never happened, thanks to Peppermint Fizz.
Orange Blossom: Because she doesn't like Rainbow and Rainbow heard her say it.
Gingersnap: But Peppermint doesn't even know her!
Strawberry Shortcake: Somebody needs to have a talk with that girl and that somebody needs to be me. Then we can all take the party to Rainbow!
