Strawberry Shortcake Wiki

Apricot is a minor character appearing in Strawberry Shortcake, making her debut appearance in Strawberry Shortcake in Big Apple City.

"Apricot is the new girl in Strawberryland who lives in an apricot cottage with her loyal little bunny Hopsalot! She may be just a bit younger than the other Strawberry girls, but she has huge aspirations to try everything they do! Apricot has quite the imagination, and can think up some pretty fantastic tales! Deep down, she's super-sweet with the best of intentions, so the other girls always go out of their way to help her out." - From the 2003 series Official website

General Information[]

Apricot was first introduced in the 1980s franchise as a baby with a big vocabulary. She initially lived in Big Apple City, then later moved to Strawberryland. She has a pet rabbit named Hopsalot. Apricot was introduced in "Strawberry Shortcake in Big Apple City". Upon meeting Orange Blossom, Strawberry was taken to Orange's apartment building, where she met three of Orange's friends, including Apricot, and they brought her along to watch the Bakeoff. This act proved to be important later in the episode, as Apricot helped Strawberry win the bake-off by buying her new groceries.

Apricot appeared in the 2002 rendition as an older girl, though slightly younger than Strawberry, and was redesigned for the then-new series as a girl who lied a lot to make friends. She only appeared in two episodes and only got one doll, a winter-themed one like her speaking role episode "Meet Apricot".

Personality[]

1980[]

Despite her small size and the fact that she is a baby, Apricot is pretty wise. She already knows how to talk and knows a lot of big words, but she does not know how to say small, normal words. It is unknown if she learned these words from someone or if she read them. She is a very sweet baby and is friends with Cherry Cuddler and Butter Cookie.

2002[]

She is friendly and truly kind, but a pathological liar. Slightly shy. She lives in an apricot-shaped house like Strawberry's Berry house. She is known for bragging, most notably bragging and lying that she's a great ice skater and lives in a castle. She becomes considerably nicer when Strawberry teaches her that lying is not good and that she is still a good friend even if she is not impressive and amazing. She is still a friend of Cherry Cuddler.

Appearance[]

1980s[]

Apricot is a fair-skinned toddler with dark eyes and waved pinkish platinum blonde hair worn in pigtails. She has an apricot-shaped hat lined in teal with matching leaves and hairbows. Her outfit consists of a pink shirt with white spots under a white denim dungaree with cuffs that match. Her booties/shoes are teal-colored. In the Specials, her shirt and dungaree lack their markings.

2002[]

Apricot is a kid, but slightly younger than Strawberry and her friends so maybe she's 7 or 8. She has wavy ginger hair, and hairbands in her bangs turned into tiny limp ponytails with no purpose. She has light green eyes and fair skin. She wears a pink beanie with a running stitch design in dark pink and an apricot on the beanie. She wears a white t-shirt with an apricot on it, a tan bubble coat with fur trim, and either a blue denim skirt or blue jeans. She has pink boots with fur. In her doll by Playmates, the hair appears pink not ginger.

Pets[]

In both the 1980s and 2000s generations, Apricot has a pet rabbit named Hopsalot.

In the 1980s, Hopsalot has a mostly white body, while their stomach and the insides of their ears are pink with white polka dots. They have a triangular (or heart-shaped, depending on the artwork) pink nose, circular pink blush marks on their cheeks, black dot eyes, and pink oval-shaped pads on their feet. They have a thin black seam that goes down from their forehead to the bridge of their nose. Some artwork also depicts them with a small tuft of fluffy fur on the top of their head.

In the 2000s, Hopsalot has a mostly orange body, while their snout, stomach, tail, and the insides of their ears are white. They have a triangular pink nose, and their eyes have lime green irises. They wear a pink ribbon around their neck, which is tied in a bow that has an orange apricot-shaped charm in the center of it.

Trivia[]

  • In the 2000s, her catchphrase is "Totally!"
  • Apricot is the first character to have a single-word name.
  • Apricot is the only toddler from the 1980s generation to be aged up to be around Strawberry's age in the 2002 series.
