Trivia[]
- The series has a more modern and down to earth approach. As seen by the setting of the show. With some exceptions like some of Lemon's inventions, implied supernatural abilities by Blueberry Muffin, and real magic by the Berry Guardians and Cinnamon Swirl, this iteration's equivalent to Santa Claus.
- This series introduces a new recurring character in the series, Bread Pudding.
- He is also the first reoccurring male character since the very first Strawberry Shortcake special with Huckleberry Pie and Plum Pudding, making Berry in the Big City the second series in the entire franchise to have more than two boys in the main cast.
- He is also the third male antagonist introduced in the franchise, but is the only male antagonist to have a permanent redemption.
- This series also introduces more adult characters unlike the past iterations, both in background and supporting cast.
- Berry in the Big City marks the first reappearance of many characters left out of prior incarnations
- Lime Chiffon, a male Plum Puddin', Frappe, and Parfait from the 1980s series.
- Peppermint Fizz, Cheesecake, Crepe Suzette, and Sherry Bobbleberry from the 2003 series.
- Ginger Snap appears in a one-second cameo via archive footage of the 2003 series, which technically marks her first ever appearance onscreen since Lights... Camera...
- Cherry Jam from Berry Bitty Adventures.
- This series also introduces parents for both the cast and the other characters. Which is also never seen before in other iterations outside of offhand mentions of family members that are never seen onscreen.
- The Berry Besties are all "a very broad “mid-teens”" in age, according to showrunner Michael Vogel[44], which would put them at the ages of around 15-17. This makes Berry in the Big City the third Strawberry Shortcake series to depict the main cast as teenagers, after Berry Bitty Adventures and Season 4 of the 2003 Series.
- Five voice actors from Berry Bitty Adventures returned to work on this series, making this series the first to feature actors from the previous generation.
- Andrea Libman reprises her role as Lemon Meringue, becoming the first ever actor in the franchise to do so.
- Diana Kaarina, who voiced Sour Grapes, voices Blueberry Muffin here.
- Shannon Chan-Kent, who voiced Cherry Jam, does Raspberry Tart's singing voice and also voices a minor character (Granola Crunch).
- Ashleigh Ball, Plum Pudding's voice actress, sings the theme song (she also sang the BBA theme song), though she doesn't play a character in the series.
- While Nicole Oliver, voice of Jadeybug, doesn’t play a character, she does work on the CGI specials as the voice director.
- Due to utilizing the same dubbing studios for its voice talent, The Ocean Group and Studio 306, the series features very heavy cast overlap with the My Little Pony franchise.
- Friendship is Magic:
- Andrea Libman (Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie) as Lemon Meringue
- Tabitha St. Germain (Rarity) as Raspberry Tart
- Ashleigh Ball (Applejack and Rainbow Dash) singing the theme song
- Shannon Chan-Kent (Pinkie's singing voice, Silver Spoon, Smolder) as Raspberry's singing voice and Granola Crunch
- Vincent Tong (Flash Sentry, Sandbar) as Huckleberry Pie
- Diana Kaarina (Aria Blaze) as Blueberry Muffin
- Ian Hanlin (Sunburst) as The Peculiar Purple Pieman and Johnnycake Cobble
- Brian Drummond (Mr. Cake, Filthy Rich, Time Turner) as Lucky Spoon and Caramel Tartufo

- Cory Doran (Comet) as Pineapple Cobbler
- Friendship is Magic:
- This is the first series to have episodes that aren't the usual length of 10-20 minutes per episode. The longest episodes of this series are 8 minute two parters.
- This series is the first to depict LGBTQ+ elements in the franchise, with prominent gay characters like Lime Chiffon’s dads and Mr. Mangosteen, nonbinary and transgender people like Raisin Cane and Banoffee, and a sapphic couple in Aunt Praline and Kiki KeyLime.
- In the R-rated movie, "Knock at the Cabin", the episode "It's My Purr-ty" can be seen playing on the T.V., making it a rare occurrence of a Strawberry Shortcake series outside of the original 1980s incarnation to be referenced in another work.
- In some countries in the world, the show is rated as 18+ on Netflix. Even though the show is never intended to be for that audience and is considered a preschool show on Wildbrain's catalogue website. It is likely due to the prominent LGBTQ+ elements in the series, which is marked as "adult content" in certain countries regardless of the actual content. In the Arabic dub, all LGBTQ+ references are heavily censored or removed from episodes, such as editing out dialogue referring to Lime Pops and Fluffy Chiffon being a gay couple, and Mr. Mangosteen and Bobby Bananabee’s relationship is cut entirely.
- Berry in the Big City has the highest episode count in the franchise for any Strawberry Shortcake series, with 120 episodes (124 counting the minisodes) and four specials, albeit with a much shorter runtime than its predecessors.
- Berry in the Big City is the first Strawberry Shortcake series to be nominated for an award.
- On July 7th, 2024, Strawberry Shortcake's Perfect Holiday would win Best Musical Score in an Animation Program at the Leo Awards, becoming the first Strawberry Shortcake series to win an award.
