Strawberry Bake Fail is the 19th episode in airing order of Season 2 of Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City. It premiered on October 22nd, 2022.
Summary[]
Strawberry Shortcake can’t seem to make macarons to save her life – is she cursed or just a really bad baker?
Plot[]
The episode begins as Strawberry Shortcake listens to a tutorial on how to make something. In the confessional segment that follows, she reveals what she is making: macarons. Strawberry Shortcake admits that macarons are difficult to make, but she is quite enticed by their cute appearance and wonders how hard they will actually be to make. It then cuts out of the confessional. The scene in the real world shows her taking a batch of eight of them out of the oven. However, when Strawberry Shortcake pulls the tray that the macarons are on out, they are suddenly destroyed without warning, becoming red and brown-ish blobs. Back in the confessional, she admits to the viewer that their creation will be very hard.
When that confessional segment finishes, Strawberry Shortcake tries making a new batch, but the heat causes the macarons to grow, so she tries to hold it shut, screaming. In the next batch, a macaron crumbles when Strawberry Shortcake puts the macaron's top on, much to her disappointment. It then cuts to a third confessional segment where Strawberry Shortcake reveals her determination, with her lucky spoon, there is nothing that she cannot bake. Trying a fourth batch, Strawberry Shortcake seems to have perfected the macarons, so she celebrates. Strawberry Shortcake's friends are drawn closer by the cheers as she shows the macarons that she created. However, before Strawberry Shortcake's friends can eat their new friend's treat, the macarons are suddenly destroyed, much to the despair of the franchise's titular protagonist. Strawberry Shortcake wonders why she cannot get the macarons right and asks if her spoon is cursed. Orange Blossom explains that Strawberry Shortcake is not who she is due to her spoon, but Strawberry Shortcake vehemently replies that what Orange Blossom said is not an answer. Blueberry Muffin then tries sniffing to find the answer. She then proceeds to suggest that Strawberry Shortcake must ask her spoon, which the country berry finds to her confusion.
The girls go to another room, where by Blueberry's advice, Strawberry Shortcake closes her eyes and meditates. The episode then segues into her mind, where she wakes up in what seems to be a maroon void, and is told by Blueberry's voice to imagine a staircase. A pink staircase appears, and Strawberry Shortcake follows it, coming to a door which takes a few seconds to appear. Upon entering, she goes into her "spiritual swirlyverse," which is populated by objects that she is related to in some way. Excited once she gets in, Strawberry Shortcake is told by Blueberry's voice to find the spoon in the stone, which she takes out. The spoon suddenly animates, growing a face and arms. As Strawberry Shortcake explains that she is trying to make macarons but keeps failing and is trying to find whether she is cursed or not, the spoon tells Strawberry Shortcake to slow down, after which it proceeds to ask how long making cake batter takes, taking a bowl out and stirring some batter in it. Strawberry Shortcake responds to the question that the spoon asked saying that the duration depends on several factors, such as the kind of cake and the ingredients that go in it and whether it should be fluffy or dense. The spoon agrees, but Strawberry Shortcake still thinks that she needs more information. The spoon then repeats its question regarding how long it takes to make cake batter. Strawberry Shortcake replies that it takes as long as it takes, the spoon agreeing with a wink. The viewer then sees a maroon void where Strawberry Shortcake floats across as a disembodied head with images of her bed, her spoon, her truck, and a picture where Huckleberry Pie appears circling her face.
Back in reality, Strawberry Shortcake realizes from her interview with the animated version of her spoon that making macarons takes as long as it takes, so she runs back to her truck to make a fifth batch. When she shows the other Berry girls, the macarons suddenly explode, becoming blackened. Despite this failure, Strawberry Shortcake is still quite convinced that she is a lucky berry with a lucky spoon. A fourth confessional segment starts, where Strawberry Shortcake tells the viewer that despite the fact that she is a good baker, she is still learning. She goes on to say that some recipes will be easy and some will be hard, but she will figure them out. As she says that it is just going to take as long as it takes, she stirs more batter in a bowl. Blueberry Muffin then pops in to say, "Making the universe sweeter one spoonful at a time."
