Strawberry’s Bad Day! is the tenth episode in airing order of Season 2 of Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City. It premiered on August 20th, 2022.
Summary[]
Strawberry Shortcake has had the WORST DAY EVER, but Aunt Praline is there to help turn her day around.
Plot[]
The episode begins as the titular heroine declares that today is going to be absolutely fantastic, making a pun on "flan" and "fantastic" as she does so. However, the next few scenarios contradict what she just said, as she accidentally drops some cookies she made, two customers tell her off for bungling their orders (One got Strawberry Stones when she wanted Strawberry Tarts and the other got Strawberry Tarts when his order was Strawberry Stones.), Strawberry Shortcake's mixer malfunctions, splattering batter on her, at which point the Purple Pieman teases Strawberry on his way by, and then she accidentally steps on Custard's tail and thus is unable to correct an error in her stack of cake boxes, one of which opens when Strawberry Shortcake tries to pick it up, a tube of cream that she used bursted, spraying cream in her face, another cookie batch gets burned, some butter bursts as Strawberry tries to stir it, and a cupcake that she put a candle in suddenly explodes as if a bomb were inside it. Not helping matters is that the city's subway system is now closed for repairs when it is raining.
Strawberry Shortcake returns to her home, soaked by the rain. When Praline asks how Strawberry Shortcake fared, Strawberry Shortcake lies that she had a fine day. Praline gets suspicious about her niece's reply, so she asks if anything exciting happened while Strawberry Shortcake was at work. Strawberry Shortcake continues the façade, even claiming that she is a "mixing bowl is half-full" kind of berry, always looking on the bright side. Praline tells her that having a bad day is okay, at which point Strawberry Shortcake concedes and decides to tell the truth about her day: she had an awful day. Praline's conclusion is that Strawberry Shortcake has got the "bad-day blues," so Praline decides to sing cheer her up with a song.
After the song, Strawberry Shortcake admits that she still does not feel great, but realizes that not feeling great once in a while is okay. Praline backs this up by saying that the bad days just remind one how good the great days are. Strawberry Shortcake then says that as long as she and her aunt are still embracing the bad day, there is still a couple of pints of ice cream in the freezer; Praline, in response, reveals another tub of ice cream under the bowl, which they gladly eat. Strawberry Shortcake then tells her aunt that "the bad day blues taste pretty good," capping off the episode.
