Spicy Crust is the name of two recurring minor characters from Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City. They can be seen running various stands across Big Apple City.
General Information[]
Spicy Crust 1 used to run a hot dog stand in Golden Delicious Park, and is currently the vendor for the Spicy Pizza Stand at the Starfruit Express rollerskating rink. He loves spicy foods, and considers it his specialty. He used to hate making non-spicy pizza, as he didn't know how to make it. After Strawberry showed him how, he let go of this hatred and began serving non-spicy pizza.
Little is known about Spicy Crust 2, but he is the current owner of the hot dog stand after Spicy Crust 1 stopped running it. Spicy 2 also runs a balloon stand in several episodes.
Appearance[]
Both Spicy Crusts are overweight men with hair tied in a ponytail, a huge beard that takes up most of their face, a huge gut, arm hair, and small feet. They wear a backwards baseball cap, a t-shirt, gloves, sweatpants, a small apron around their waist, and shoes.
Spicy Crust 1 has black eyes and brown hair. He wears a red hat, blu-ish grey shirt, off-white gloves, red sweatpants, yellow apron, and yellow shoes.
Spicy Crust 2 has brown eyes and dark brown hair. He wears a mustard-yellow hat, beige shirt, off-white gloves, mustard-yellow sweatpants, red apron, and red shoes.
Personality[]
Spicy Crust 1 was shown to be pretty friendly to his customers back when he ran a hot dog stand, and didn't seem to have any issues with non-spicy foods. Though after he started running the Spicy Pizza Stand at Starfruit Express, he appeared to grow colder and more harsh. He only served spicy pizza, and would refuse to sell anything non-spicy, even banning anyberry who wanted to get a non-spicy pizza. When Strawberry Shortcake yelled at him for being unaccommodating to his customers, he was genuinely apologetic and explained he only doesn't sell non-spicy pizza because he didn't know how to make it. After Strawberry and the other Berry Besties taught him how to make different kinds of pizza, Spicy Crust became much more like his old self, being friendly to his customers and willing to give them any type of pizza they want, even if the toppings are weird.
Little is known about Spicy Crust 2. He doesn't seem to have the same love of spicy foods as his pizza-chef counterpart, and otherwise seems to be a completely normal berry.
Trivia[]
- Despite Strawberry's extremely low spice tolerance, it is implied she was a regular customer for Spicy Crust 1's hot dog stand, as he knew her by name in A Berry Perfect Kind of Day.
- Both Spicy Crusts are rather unique characters for the franchise, as they are themed after a spicy food rather than something sweet. As pizza is baked, they are technically still named after a baked good.
- It is unknown why Spicy Crust 1 decided to switch to selling pizza when he was previously depicted selling hot dogs. It's possible he just did it so his name would match his products. Same can't be said for Spicy Crust 2, however, as he currently runs the hot dog stand.
- They are the first example of two different characters sharing the same name within the same series.
