Mr. Mangosteen is a minor character in Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City. He is known in Big Apple City for his fruit stand that sells a variety of good fruits.
General Information[]
Mr. Mangosteen is a fruit stand owner in Big Apple City. He is considered one of the best places to get good fruit by the Berry Besties, such as gooseberries. He is usually seen near his fruit stand, but can also be seen wandering around Big Apple City going about his day.
He has a boyfriend, later fiancé, named Bobby Bananabee. Bobby is a black man with a completely green jogging outfit. The two were first established to be dating in Will You Be My Lemontine, when he was briefly seen handing a Sweetie Pie's gift to Bobby. In many episodes the two are seen together, usually on dates. In Season 3, they became engaged and bought a house on 1313 Scary Berry Lane, planning to move in together.
Appearance[]
Mr. Mangosteen is a middle aged man with small wrinkles under his eyes, a cool toned dark complexion. He has a dark violet hair, beard and mustache, and brown eyes.
Mangosteen wears a beige buttoned long sleeved shirt, two pinkish stripes that has a large orange polka dot pattern on it, indigo blue pants, yellow shoes and a yellow and dark orange hat.
Despite his older appearance, he has a rather high-pitched and slightly goofy voice.
Personality[]
Mr. Mangosteen is a warm and friendly man who tries to be helpful to his customers.
Mr. Mangosteen is relatively unfazed by many weird occurences in Big Apple City, and takes them all in stride. The most notable example comes in The House on Scary Berry Lane, where he’s completely unbothered by the run-down and creepy nature of his new house, and has no reaction to the copious amounts of dangerous cookware inside outside of mild curiosity. He also regards all the evil-looking marzipan man cookies he finds everywhere with only slight amazement.

- Although named Mr. Mangosteen, mangosteens are a fruit not related to mangoes in any way, in case you were wondering.
- Funny enough, he also sells mangosteens in his fruit stand as seen in the episode The Great Gooseberry Chase.
- Mr. Mangosteen was seen with a male love interest in Will You Be My Lemontine,. A regular "face in the crowd" in many episodes, he is identified as Mr. Mangosteen's fiance', Bobby Bananabee, in “The House on Scary Berry Lane”.
- Mr. Mangosteen is technically the first ever LGBTQ+ male character to appear in the franchise, as he is gay. However, it is not confirmed until "Will You Be My Lemontine", which introduces his fiancé. The first male LGBTQ+ characters to be confirmed as such from the beginning would be Fluffy Chiffon and Dr. Lime Pops, Lime Chiffon's dads.
- The delivery boy seen in many episodes works for him.
