Biography[]
Meg Roe was born on an unknown date in 1980[1]. She was raised in Balzac, Alberta, and attended school in Airdrie. She graduated from the University of Victoria with a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) in Acting at the Department of Theatre
She began her acting career very early in life. Her first role was as Gretl von Trapp in a Jubille Auditorium production of "The Sound of Music" in Calgary. She's continued acting in theatre since, and has amassed an immense portfolio. Some of her works include Theatre Junction's productions of "Much Ado About Nothing", "Arcadia", "It’s All True", "Closer," and "A Month in the Country". Arts Club Theatre's productions of "Saint Joan" and "The Penelopiad", and Alberta Theatre Project's production of "Mary's Wedding".
Meg Roe is also an actor in television, though not as extensively as her stage roles. Some of her most notable roles include Police Chief Grace Wochuck in "Three Moons Over Milford", Amalie Fabarge in "Riverworld", Celery in "Ready Jet Go!", and Susan Spiros in "Under the Bridge".
Outside of acting, Meg Roe is also a theater director. She made her directorial debut in a 2008 production of "The Tempest" with Bard on the Beach. Meg has also directed several plays at the Shaw Festival, including a production of "Trifles" in 2013.
In 2003, Meg Roe met fellow actor Alessandro Juliani, when the two were cast as Romeo and Juliet in Vancouver Playhouse's production of the titular play. Like the star-crossed lovers, Meg and Alessandro fell in love as well, with Meg relocating to Vancouver shortly afterward. The two continued to appear in several projects together, and would eventually marry on an unknown date. The two have three children; daughter and son twins born in 2013, and another daughter born in 2015.
In 2021, Meg Roe would become the voice of Sour Grapes in Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City, notably being the only member of the main cast to not voice any additional characters. Meg was briefly unavailable during production for Strawberry Shortcake’s Perfect Holiday, and so Tabitha St. Germain took over as the voice of Sour Grapes. This was not a permanent change, and Meg would continue voicing the character afterward.
