Margalo B. Berryglow is a character making her debut appearance in the episode "When the Berry Fairy Came To Stay" as a small berry fairy who crashes at Strawberry's house for awhile as a freeloader. She is voiced by Andrea Ware.
History[]
When she first appears, Margalo fakes being injured and decides to stay. Strawberry Shortcake, being the nice girl that she normally is, allows the fairy to stay. Some time in, Ginger Snap comes to visit and spots Margalo as she is introduced by Strawberry Shortcake to her. Strawberry Shortcake and Ginger Snap then show Margalo to the others. Later that night, Custard the cat begins to suspect something amiss as she saw no visible injury and finds herself proven right when she and Pupcake the dog hear some noises and spot Margalo flying about and feasting on something in the closet.
The next day, Custard tries to tell her owner that she and Pupcake saw Margalo flying, but Strawberry Shortcake mistakens it for some other phenomenon. Margalo, afraid that she will be discovered, hides, and later claims to have seen a crow. Custard and Pupcake later use this to their advantage to try to expose Margalo by scaring her, only to get caught before she can get away, and she manages to keep her ruse up. Custard and Pupcake then exile themselves. Strawberry Shortcake discovers this and follows their trail. When Pupcake smells something and reveals that the strawberries are dying, Strawberry Shortcake is horrified and rushes back to tell Margalo about it.
Later, Margalo has received a new makeover. When she is told about their deaths by Strawberry Shortcake, Margalo doesn't think the strawberries matter much. Strawberry Shortcake then decides that she can probably put her hand at taking care of the Strawberries, but fails.
Margalo later confronts a real crow while she is relaxing, but mistakes him for Custard trying to expose her, until she spots Custard, Strawberry Shortcake, and Pupcake headed in her direction. She accidentally starts flying, but manages to get away courtesy of Custard and Pupcake. Margalo then lets slip that she flew like the wind, and quickly tries to cover it up by saying that her wing healed. Strawberry Shortcake is rather shocked by what she just heard, and Margalo apologises for taking advantage of the others' kindness and reveals that she liked it so much that she didn't want to leave. Strawberry Shortcake forgives her fairy friend, and teaches her that being nice is what counts. Margalo then takes this to heart. She makes the berries ripe, and makes so many friends this way that she claims that she doesn't know what to do with them. Strawberry Shortcake is amazed when she sees Margalo's friends, who then greet Strawberry Shortcake.
Appearance[]
Margalo has orange kinky hair that points in many directions. She has tanned skin, darker than most girls but slightly lighter than Tangerina Torta, and pointed elf ears. Her eyes are light green. Her fairy wings are yellow with three rounded curves. She wears a light green tube top dress with a white petticoat under it. The dress has a daisy sewn on at the waist.
Personality[]
Margalo lies often, and is known to take advantage of others’ kindness. She’s lazy and would rather not break a sweat.
Trivia[]
- Her story of pretending to be injured is similar to the Stuart Little character Margalo, so her name may draw inspiration from that character.
- She looks similar to Spring.
- In the song "Do You Know the Way to the Berry Fairy Fields?", she says "Like an answer to a prayer and imagine you'd be there", hinting that there is a deity in the Strawberry Shortcake universe.
