Legend Of The Spoon is the 4th episode of the first season of Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City. It premiered on October 2nd, 2021.
Summary[]
Aunt Praline presents Strawberry Shortcake with their family’s ‘Lucky Spoon’ and trains her to master the ‘ways of the spoon’.
Plot[]
It is nighttime at the Berryworks, and Strawberry is frantically moving boxes and pastry cases around the counter, running back and forth across her truck. Aunt Praline asks Strawberry how she's settling in in the Berryworks and asks if she's still nervous. Strawberry nervously laughs and denies this, and asks why she thinks that, only for Praline to point out to Strawberry that she (Praline) had only been at the truck for around a minute, and Strawberry's already moved a stack of bowls back and forth ten times. Strawberry puts the bowls back onto the counter and one bowl on the top tilts a bit, making Strawberry push the bowls further onto the counter so they don't fall over.
Cutaway: Aunt Praline explains that it's normal in her family to have pre-baking nerves, and that she knows what Strawberry needs.
Aunt Praline puts an antique box on the counter for Strawberry, saying what's inside should help her. Strawberry thanks her aunt for the gift, opening the box to see a mixing spoon as dust poofs out of the box. The spoon's bowl is shaped like a strawberry, with green "leaves" on the neck, a sparkly pink handle surrounded by two gold rings on both sides, and another smaller strawberry on the end.
Cutaway: Strawberry notes that it's a dusty old spoon, slightly disappointed.
Strawberry picks up the spoon by the end, reluctantly thanking Aunt Praline, saying that any baker could always use an extra spoon. Aunt Praline takes notice of Strawberry's underwhelmed tone and snatches the spoon out of her hands. Aunt Praline explains that noberry has a spoon like this one, explaining that it's a family heirloom passed down for generations from baker to baker, that it's special, lucky, and it'll be Strawberry's most prized appliance once she gets the hang of it. Strawberry laughs and tells her that it's just a spoon, to which Praline tosses the spoon into the air as it spins rapidly, getting Strawberry's attention. She grabs the spoon and tosses cookie dough into the air, jumps and slices it into several pieces as it evenly falls onto a tray perfectly. Strawberry, amazed, asks Aunt Praline to teach her the ways of the spoon, which Praline agrees to.
Praline and Strawberry stand opposite to each other in the Berryworks courtyard, both holding a bowl of batter. Praline twirls the spoon in her hands at a fast pace, before throwing it to Strawberry, who struggles to catch it. Strawberry tries to repeat Praline's spinning technique, but it gets caught in her bangs, causing her to drop the bowl on her head.
Praline holds a tray with cookie dough, tossing the dough into the air. She leaps into the air, and with a few quick strikes, she lands gracefully as the cookie dough pieces land perfectly onto the tray. Strawberry attempts this, tossing the dough into the air, only for it to veer right, she tries to follow the dough and trips on Custard, causing her to fall to the ground as the cookie doug lands on her face. Custard approaches Strawberry and starts licking the cookie dough.
It cuts to the silhouettes of the two in single-colored panels, as Strawberry tries and fails to replicate Aunt Praline's moves.
Strawberry is blindfolded, trying to twirl the spoon once more only to almost drop it and fall to the ground. She gets up and tries again, facing the wrong way as Aunt Praline throws a couple of oranges at Strawberry. She turns around and is hit by another orange, briefly peeking out of her blindfold to see Aunt Praline throw another orange. Strawberry continues to fail to block the fruits thrown at her, and resorts to frantically waving the spoon in front of her. One last orange hits her in the face, which she manages to catch in the spoon. Strawberry takes off her blindfold, happy that she finally did it, before she gets pelted with another barrage of fruit and runs off.
The silhouette shot returns, as Strawberry perfectly follows Aunt Praline's lead. Strawberry can be seen successfully performing other techniques with the spoon.
Strawberry stirs batter with the spoon, blindfolded, on top of the J. Quincy Cupcake statue outside of the Berryworks, the moon vibrantly glowing behind Strawberry. Aunt Praline and Custard observe her, Praline pretends to be impressed and walks away, before suddenly grabbing a chunk of cookie dough and tossing it at Strawberry. As it flies closer and closer, Strawberry notices and tosses her mixing bowl into the air. With a few quick strikes of the spoon, she slides toward Aunt Praline while holding out a baking tray, as she perfectly catches the slices of cookie dough in the tray. She takes off her blindfold, happy she mastered the spoon. She expertly twirls the spoon in her hands and hands it to Aunt Praline, who gives her the spoon back, declaring that Strawberry is ready.
Cutaway: Strawberry admits that she thought the spoon was weird at first, but now that she's gotten used to it, it makes her feel like generations of bakers have her back while she bakes.
The oven timer dings, as Strawberry pulls out a fresh batch of cookies and presents it to Aunt Praline, telling her the spoon has definitely upped her game. Aunt Praline smells the cookies and tries one, agreeing with Strawberry, telling her she's making her family proud. Strawberry admits that now that she has mastered the ways of the spoon, she feels like she can handle everything at her. Praline repeats the "mastered" part in a confident tone, and says it's cute. Strawberry confidently asks Praline what she could possibly have left to learn, to which Praline takes the spoon, knocking the tray out of Strawberry's hands into the air. Aunt Praline leaps into the air as well, slicing the cookies into pieces. The tray lands in Strawberry's hand, where the cookie slices land in a small stack. Praline lands and taps the tray with the spoon, causing the cookies to burst into smaller crumbs, landing in a perfect strawberry shape on the tray. Aunt Praline twirls the spoon once more and blows the crumbs off the spoon. Strawberry immediately goes to ask Praline to teach her once more, only for Praline to shush her, telling Strawberry that they've done enough for today, as it takes a lifetime to truly master the Lucky Spoon.

- This makes her the first recurring cast member and the second non-Strawberry character to get a cutaway segment, with the first non-Strawberry character being Lemon Meringue.
References to Past Series[]
- Strawberry's family lineage being a long line of bakers is likely a meta joke about all of Strawberry's past incarnations also being talented bakers.
Errors[]
- In the first part of Strawberry's training montage, Aunt Praline and Strawberry's bowls can clearly be seen to be full of cookie dough. When Strawberry accidentally drops the bowl on her head, it's empty.
- During the final part of Strawberry's training montage, she tosses a bowl into the air to slice the oncoming cookie dough. The bowl is never seen coming down.
