"I can't rest and rejuvinate with THEM here!" -- Blueberry Muffin is outraged that she has to have a sleepover while Jelly Roll and Peanut Butter Crisp are around due to their rowdiness.

Jelly Roll is a minor character from Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City, making their debut in the episode Super-Berry (albeit unnamed) and having their first major role in The Battle of Blueberry's Slumber Party. They are a friend of Everything Bagel and Peanut Butter Crisp.

History[]

Jelly Roll is first seen in A Berry Perfect Kind of Day, as a background extra heading into the Funnelcake System. She also appears in Super-Berry alongside her friend Peanut Butter Crisp, when the two need help retrieving their frisbee and kite from a tree. Orange Blossom helps them retrieve their toys, and the two run off happy.

Jelly Roll's first prominent role occurs during the episode The Battle of Blueberry's Slumber Party, when Blueberry Muffin has prepared a spiritual sleepover, only to be dismayed when her brother Everything Bagel runs to the door, excited that his buddies Jelly Roll and Peanut Butter Crisp have come. Jelly and Crisp show their rowdy nature by beating their sleeping bags. An outraged Blueberry Muffin calls for her mother Everything Muffin, but she explains that she had a mix-up on her calendar, but is certain that Blueberry Muffin and her friends will still have enough room. Blueberry Muffin attempts to set a condition that Everything Bagel and his friends stay out of the living room, but he claims that they need the living room as they are about to play a video game. The three end up disrupting the sleepover, and the problem eventually culminates in a fight that results in everyone being knocked out. Upon awakening, Blueberry Muffin is told by her mother that her brother is sorry about jinxing her sleepover. However, after Blueberry sees that everyone around her has gotten refreshing rest after getting knocked out, she accepts and thanks him for making the slumber party better. It then cuts to a different sleepover, where she and Strawberry Shortcake are charging at Everything Bagel and his friends, both sides wielding pillows.

Their second major appearance comes in A Holiday Your Way!, when they and Peanut Butter Crisp bully Honeydew Sorbet for her weird-looking snowman, mocking its appearance and calling it a snow-freak. At the end of the episode, after everyberry created their own unique snowmen, the two approach Honeydew and apologize to her, and admit that the snowmen look pretty cool. Honeydew accepts their apology, and invites them to make snowmen with her and the Berry Besties.

In Bake The World A Better Place, Peanut Butter and Jelly are among the customers at the Berry Besties' new food truck lot.

Appearance[]

Jelly Roll is a short kid with a dark complexion, purple eyes, and dark purple wicks. Jelly wears a lavender long-sleeved sweatshirt over a white undershirt, blue rolled-up jean shorts, white socks, and purple sneakers.

Jelly Roll uses one of the "young kid" character designs used for background extras introduced in Season 2. Another incidental who shares her design has reddish-pink shorts and pink hair.

Personality[]

Due to being a background character, Jelly Roll doesn't demonstrate much personality, usually acting like an ordinary kid. In the episodes where they play a prominent role, they show themselves to be quite energetic, like their friends Everything Bagel and Peanut Butter Crisp. The trio usually end up acting rambunctious and disruptive to those around them. They're also quite mean as indicated in "A Holiday Your Way!", when they and Peanut Butter bully Honeydew for her weird-looking snowman. They do later apologize and admit they think the snowman looks pretty cool, which indicates they have a kinder side to them.

Trivia[]

  • Jelly Roll is one of several instances where a background character is given a name. Other examples of this happening include Bobby Bananabee, Berry Mary, Spicy Crust, and Peanut Butter Crisp.
  • In their first speaking appearance, they are voiced by Tabitha St. Germain. However, their next speaking appearance has them switch voice actors with Peanut Butter Crisp, instead being played by Darius Willis. The reason for this is unknown, but it could be the result of a recast to have the voice actors match their characters races, or their roles were miscredited both times (it should be noted Jelly's first speaking role never had them speak individually, and they only ever talked in unison with Peanut). It also makes it unclear if Jelly is supposed to be a girl or not, as they are never referred to with gendered pronouns.
