Huck's New Job is the 30th episode of the first season of Strawberry Shortcake: Berry In The Big City. It premiered on April 2nd, 2022.
Summary[]
Huckleberry Pie tries to work at all the food trucks, but it’s just not his jam – so he decides to play to his strength instead.
Plot[]
Cutaway: Strawberry Shortcake says everything is going flan-tastic at the Berryworks. Huckleberry Pie is fitting right in, and even Bread Pudding has cooled off.
Bread Pudding walks around the Berryworks' park to inspect the area as he checks off a list on his clipboard, when Huck suddenly begins singing, startling Bread and causing him to spray the ink from his pen into his face. Bread looks over at Huck playing in the courtyard, visibly enraged. Later, he is attempting to stack a house of cards, almost completing the final layer, when Huck suddenly begins singing again, startling Bread and causing the house of cards to collapse. Bread slams the window shut in frustration. Even later, Bread looks around the Berryworks, and when he is convinced Huck isn't around, he sits down to enjoy his drink. Huckleberry then walks by, singing again and startling Bread into squeezing his drink cup and splashing juice all over himself.
This proves to be the last straw for Bread, who storms over to Huck and berates him for his music. Huck asks what's wrong with a little music, to which Bread tells him it's a lot of music, everywhere, to the point where he can't escape it. He tells Huckleberry to just stay by his cart...and then realizes something: Huck doesn't have a cart. Huckleberry confirms this, as he just goes where his music takes him. Bread smugly tells him that all Berryworks vendors need a cart to remain employed, and fires Huck on the spot. Huck sadly strums his guitar after Bread walks away, but Bread yells at him from offscreen that he can't sadly strum without a cart.
Later, at the Extraordinary Berry, the Berry Besties have gathered to comfort Huck and check the rulebook. Lime sadly confirms that Bread Pudding is correct, and that all vendors do need a cart. Strawberry suddenly gets an idea, telling her friends that Huck can just work at one of their carts.
Cutaway: Strawberry says it's a total win-win. Huck gets to stay, and they get the help.
Huckleberry Pie first tries working with Orange Blossom at the Citrus Slice smoothie cart. Orange tells Huck that the customers ordered "3 Blue Blasts, 2 Green Meanies, and 1 Orange Deluxe". Huck, who had been staring at a fruit bowl, was not listening, and decides to just dump random fruit into the blenders. The result is a disgusting greenish-brown sludge that grosses out all the customers. Orange Blossom stares at Huck, who sadly hangs up his apron and walks away.
Then, Huckleberry tries working with Lime Chiffon at the LemonLime Time juice cart. Lime tells him that he'll probably do better with taking orders, rather than making them. An elderly customer walks up to the cart and orders a large LemonLime Berryade Blaster with extra syrup and half ice. Huck mixes up the order, thinking she ordered a small drink with a blast of syrup, extra ice, and half a berry, even when the customer corrected him. When he tries to blast the syrup, Lime realizes and tries to stop Huck, but gets blasted instead. Lime suggests to Huckleberry that he should probably help Lemon Meringue instead.
With Lemon, who’s currently under the cart performing maintenance, tells Huck to hand her a wrench. Huck, not knowing what a wrench is, stares at the toolbox and hands her a hammer, screwdriver, electric drill, and a rubber chicken. Lemon gets out from the cart’s underside and asks him where did the chicken come from. Huckleberry sighs, hangs up his apron and walks away.
Next, Huckleberry tries working with Blueberry Muffin at the Dreamery Creamery ice cream cart. She simply wants him to inspire her with creative new flavors. Blueberry tells Huck to close his eyes and asks what he sees, and he tells her he sees vanilla. Blueberry tries again, and asks him if he sees anything else, but Huck only sees vanilla ice cream. She asks for something daring, and Huck can only manage vanilla ice cream… in a cone, which blows his mind. Blueberry, taken aback at Huck’s surprising lack of imagination, tells him that his energy is simple and he should share it with the world… but not at her cart.
Finally, Huckleberry tries working with Strawberry at the Extraordinary Berry truck, who wants him to try baking orders. She explains how to operate the Very Berry Oven, but every time looks back she can see one of her pastries mysteriously missing, Huck clearly having eaten it. By the third time it happens, Strawberry catches on and Huck ends up handing her his apron in shame.
Cutaway: Huckleberry Pie sadly says it's good that music is his passion, since he can't do anything else.
Huck grabs his guitar as he prepares to leave the Berryworks, the Berry Besties there to see him off. Strawberry apologizes to Huck for not being able to help him stay. Huck plays a short goodbye song to his friends, thanking them for trying, and for loving his music with or without a cart. This makes Strawberry realize something and gives her an idea.
Cutaway: Strawberry explains what she realized, that they didn't need to have Huck work at their carts, they just needed to get him one of his own.
The Berry Besties surprise Huck with a mobile karaoke stand, calling it the Huckleberry Pie Berryoke Cart. Huck asks his friends if they did all this for him, and is touched by the gift. Bread Pudding walks by and notices Huck, aggressively asking him why he’s still at the Berryworks, reminding him with no cart, he’s not allowed. Bread almost tells Huck there’s nothing that will change his mind, when Huck tells Bread that the girls got him his very own Berryoke music cart. Bread’s eyes glitter with excitement upon hearing it, as he loves Berryoke.
The episode ends with Huckleberry and Bread performing a duet of Contrary Berry, as the Berry Besties and the Berryworks pets dance to the music.

Trivia[]
- Huckleberry Pie gets a new cart in the episode, known as the Huckleberry Pie Berryoke Cart. From this episode onwards he's also a full employee at the Berryworks.
- Huck gets his first cutaway segment where he talks to the viewer in this episode. His background is turquoise with a music note pattern.
- This makes him the seventh non-Strawberry character to get a cutaway, after Aunt Praline, Lemon, Orange, Lime, Blueberry, and Cheesecake.
- He's the sixth main cast member, and the first of the extended main cast, to get a cutaway segment.
- Lemon Meringue and Lime Chiffon's cart is finally shown to sell juice. While the LemonLime TIme cart's appearance would probably make this obvious, this is the first episode to actually show them selling the product.
- This episode establishes the Berryworks Cart rule, which states all vendors need to own and operate cart to remain employed. This rule will be brought up in future episodes...
- Bread Pudding is revealed to love Karaoke.
- This is also the first episode where Chirag Naik sings as Bread Pudding.
- This is the fourth episode where a Mean Berry gets along with the Berry Besties, this time being Bread Pudding. It's also the first to not be a Winter episode, like "Berry Merry Melody", "Lemon's Name in Lights", and "New Years Wish".
- Apparently Orange Blossom has onions at her smoothie cart. In what scenario would she need them? Who knows.
Continuity[]
- Huckleberry's love of pastries continues, after his debut episode and "Who Stole the Pies".
- Strawberry mentions at the beginning of the episode that Huck has been at the Berryworks for some time. Huck started hanging out at the Berryworks since "Berry Merry Melody", and would make sporadic appearances at the location since then.
- Bread Pudding is convinced to join the Berry Besties in having fun with his love of music, which can be reminiscent of "Berry Merry Melody", where he was the only Mean Berry visibly enjoying the song rather than being annoyed.
Error[]
- In the scene after Huckleberry gets fired, Blueberry is standing leftmost of the screen next to Huck, while Orange is next to Lime. Then it cuts to a closeup of Lime as she confirms the employee cart rule, but after it cuts back to the group shot, Orange is standing next to Huck while Blueberry is next to Lime.
- When Huck is repeating the Customer Berry's order, he actually got the extra syrup part of the order correct, but for some reason the customer says they ordered half syrup. It's likely the customer's line was supposed to say "A large LemonLime Berryade Blaster, half syrup, half ice", rather than "A large LemonLime Berryade Blaster, extra syrup, half ice".
