Sour Grapes is a new incarnation of the Strawberry Shortcake antagonist of previous generations. This Sour is the same age as Strawberry and friends, and is generally shown to be not an evil villain , but still fairly mean and rude. However, she does change and grow into a better person over time and become nicer.
Sour Grapes was first introduced in Season Four of Berry Bitty Adventures and has the spotlight as a main character in the short-lived 2018 series of 2D animated YouTube special shorts. Her twin sister is Sweet Grapes and they run a food truck together. Her scheming cousin is Raisin Cane. She is tough, competitive, and incredibly sarcastic.
Sour would once again appear for the succeeding series, Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City. This Sour is the polar opposite of her previous incarnation, with a monotone voice, bland appearance, and very indifferent outlook on the world. Her style is more goth instead of punk. She very rarely shows emotion, but that doesn't mean she doesn't care about her friends.

Berry Bitty Adventures[]
Sour Grapes is a pale skinned girl with ombre lavender and lime eyes. She has natural purple hair in a choppy bob, with lime green highlights. She has a black headband with a grape on it, her dress is green and purple striped with black sleeves. She has white and and black striped leggings, black combat boots, and layered necklaces. Sometimes, she wears black athletic shorts like when camping. She has a very punk and edgy style, and is the third tomboy butch character in Strawberry Shortcake, the first being Peppermint Fizz and then Raspberry Torte, and being followed by the 2021 version of Orange Blossom and Lemon Meringue from the 2021 series. She wears green eyeshadow. She is the second character in the franchise to have highlights.
Berry in the Big City[]
Sour has a more plain and casual look, she has a full purple medium length hairstyle with purple eyes and no head accessories on. Her skin is a bit purplish. She wears a white short sleeved t-shirt, a purple plaid skirt, pastel purple leggings, violet flats and what seems to be a lace choker. She has a minimalist and emo fashion style instead of her former punk and neon style.
In summer episodes, Sour wears a white sleeveless summer dress over a purple shirt/shorts, with a dark purple sash belt tied in a bow, and purple flats with light purple bows on the toes.
In winter episodes, Sour retains her normal clothes, but wears a white beret, a white winter coat with purple outlines, and a light purple scarf over it.

Berry Bitty Adventures[]
Sour Grapes came into Berry Bitty Adventures as a last-minute thought to replace tomboy, antagonistic characters such as Peppermint Fizz and Raspberry Torte (2003). Sour Grapes is much like her namesake. She appears to be generally in a foul mood and unpleasant to be around. She is often grumpy, and has a feisty temper that can flare up any time, but she isn't that mean when you get to know her. She's a realist, not a pessimist. She has spunk and edge and does things with gusto and likes to seem tough and brave. She's mischievous and likes to play pranks and trick people, similar to many antagonistic characters of the franchise. She is competitive and energetic and is protective of her sister, Sweet Grapes, and always tries to help her. They act like polar opposites, but they are best friends and love each other, a trope often used with twin characters. Sour Grapes starts to seem a bit more 'sweet' in comparison to her cousin, the greedy and social media addicted Raisin Cane. Sour Grapes is often annoyed and groans at the schemes of her cousin. She is more intelligent and clever than the ditsy, head in the clouds Sweet. Sour's grumpy competitive personality makes her very similar to Angel Cake personality wise.
In the 2018 2D animated YouTube Series, Sour Grapes seems to have matured, just like Peppermint Fizz did in her transition from 2003 to 2007. Sour is still sarcastic and has an annoyed realist view, but she is much nicer. She is 'berry' nice to Strawberry Shortcake and Orange Blossom and has found a close friendship with them. She loves her sister and helps her and is concerned for her. She's very clever and intelligent, often coming up with ideas to help her ditsy sister. She's tough and wants to be seen as brave and cool by those around her, however we see in one of the shorts she can be insecure about being different from her sister.
Berry in the Big City[]
In the series, she has become an antagonist and along with Bread Pudding and Raspberry Torte she passively participates in with these two's schemes to get Strawberry to leave the Berryworks. When doing the Mean Berrie's plans, she honestly seems neutral and apathetic about it, and just acts as a follower to Raspbery. She doesn't actually have a strong opinion about Strawberry being in the Berryworks, and just doesn't care. She is very expressionless, quiet and a bit cold. She's also quite judgmental over clothing as the first thing she pointed out when Raspberry was mocking Strawberry was Strawberry's outfit being "matchy-matchy" in Mean Berries, so, she most likely likes fashion and has some knowledge on the subject. She also likes gothic and creepy things. In "Lemon's Name in Lights" one of the few things she seems happy about is when she got to decorate the Christmas tree in a purple, gothic style with a giant skull on top.
She is mostly seen following Raspberry, but it is unknown how much she actually likes Raspberry. They don't often have friendly interactions, and Raspberry rarely looks at her. She just stands behind or to the side of Raspberry. Raspberry did give Sour a special credit card though. Unlike Bread Pudding and Raspberry Torte, Sour Grapes remains a villain in Season 2, where it is revealed that the Purple Pieman is her uncle rather than her brother in this version and she becomes his protege.
She and the Pieman seem to have a strained relationship. At first, she was happy to gain his praise but now doesn't seem to enjoy being his protege. She'd probably rather be with her friends. The Pieman psychologically manipulates her, and she is mostly aware of this. He also throws her under the bus, blaming her when his schemes get called out. He doesn't let her eat ice cream or any other treats as well which could be adding to her attitude. She doesn't think Strawberry deserves all his tricks and mean schemes. She also thinks his outfit for the Fashion Show was ugly and ridiculous and thought Lime and Fluffy needed to win. A reoccurring theme with her is just going along with what others tell her to do, like being Raspberry's minion or working with the Pieman, however she appears to enjoy Raspberry's company and is willing to foil Pieman's plans to help her friends. Eventually she stands up for herself and doesn't let herself be pushed around by Pieman anymore when she quits to be with her friends

- Sour is one of the only Strawberryland characters that likes to cook real, nutritious food and not dessert.
- Her favorite sandwich is bok choy and mustard.
- She tries very hard to be different from Sweet Grapes and is insecure about being different.
- She hates the idea of matching twin clothes.
- She doesn't like overly bright or feminine colors.
- She's a great storyteller and likes scary stories.
- She's the only Berry Bitty girl to have short hair and be a tomboy. (Peppermint Fizz was removed outright and Raspberry Torte was made more feminine.)
- If you look closely, Sour Grapes is the taller twin.
- A doll prototype of her and Sweet Grapes exists and was shown at toy fair 2018 but was never released.
- Sour Grapes has ombre eyes.
- She is an Aries. Her birthday is April 1st.
- This incarnation is the only version of Sour Grapes to not be an accomplice of the Purple Pieman at any point.
Berry in the Big CIty[]
- She enjoys drawing, as shown in episodes Strawberry Surprise and Crushing The Cosplay, and there is a noticeable growth in her artstyle between the episodes.
- In the episode "Crushing the Cosplay", it is revealed that Sour Grapes is a closet Tangerine Smash and Guava Girl fan, and has extensive knowledge of the comic characters' 35-year history.
- She decorates the Winterswirl Tree every year according to Orange Blossom, though no one really likes her trees due to them being either low-effort or creepily unfitting for the holiday.
- In Strawberry Shortcake’s Perfect Holiday, it is revealed that Sour Grapes doesn't believe in Cinnamon Swirl, and thinks she doesn't exist. Ironically, she's the first one to figure out the Cookie Vendor is Cinnamon Swirl herself.
- She is so far the only main cast member to not have a cutaway segment in the main series. She does get some cutaway segments in the 3D Netflix specials, however, with her first one being in Strawberry Shortcake and the Beast of Berry Bog.
- This incarnation is the only version of Sour to co-exist with Raisin Cane in the same series, but not be related to them at all. 2003 Sour Grapes wasn't related to Raisin, but that was due to Raisin not existing in the 2003 series.
