Summary[]
The owner of the Berryworks is coming to town and Bread Pudding needs everything to be PERFECT.
Plot[]
It’s early in the morning at the Berryworks. Strawberry Shortcake yawns as she gets ready to set up her truck, and is promptly startled awake by Bread Pudding’s sudden appearance, who gives her a “helpful hint” to arrive earlier. Later in the day, she serves a cupcake to Grandma Buttermilk Beignet who leaves crumbs on the counter as she takes a bite. Bread suddenly appears again and “helpfully” hints to Strawberry that nobody likes a dirty counter and demands her to clean it. A customer arrives as Strawberry begins wiping down the countertop, and Bread scolds her again for making the customer wait, which makes the customer uncomfortable and leave before Strawberry can take her order, causing Strawberry to groan in frustration.
Cutaway: Strawberry Shortcake rants about how unhelpful Bread Pudding’s “helpful hints” are, pointing out that he wouldn’t like it if someberry constantly nitpicked everything he did.
Strawberry bursts into Bread’s office, preparing to voice her gripes about his micro-managing, but Bread tells her that he’s finishing his breakfast and to give him a moment. Strawberry impatiently waits as Bread finishes up his pastry, but before she can tell him anything she’s interrupted again by Bread’s phone ringing. When he answers his phone, his previously confident demeanor quickly switches to anxious after hearing that someberry (and her little dog too) is on her way to the Berryworks. Bread rushes to the window, yelling that "she's" coming.
Strawberry watches her friends panic and scramble across the courtyard and asks what’s going on, Raspberry Tart tells her that the owner of the Berryworks is coming as she rushes past. Strawberry doesn’t see why that’s a problem, since the owner couldn’t possibly be worse than Bread. Orange tries to explain to Strawberry, but the Berryworks owner shows up. Bread Pudding nervously greets her, revealing the owner to be his mother, Figgy Pudding.
Figgy begins looking around the Berryworks, giving her son a “helpful hint” about treating everyday like a surprise inspection, so they won't be unprepared when one happens. He assures his mother that they are prepared, but Figgy is unmoved. She explains that she and her pet dog Creampuff have found these inspections to be quite "illuminating" with her other properties, listing off the Banana Beachworks and the Frosty Mountain Lodge, considering them to be managed marvelously as a result. She then begins criticizing the way Bread's been running the Berryworks, pointing out the “unattended vehicles” and derisively compares the place to a parking lot, mistaking one of the girls as a parking attendant.
As Figgy looks at Strawberry’s truck, the other Berry Besties line up with special desserts, placing them on the ground so Creampuff can inspect it. Strawberry is dumbfounded by this, but Raspberry shushes her. Creampuff reacts negatively to each of the dishes, dismissing Lemon Meringue and Lime Chiffon's juice and kicking it away, acts disgusted at Orange's smoothie, outright attacking Blueberry Muffin's ice cream cone, and burying Raspberry’s pie with dirt as if he had “done his business”, which infuriates Raspberry.
When Creampuff gets to Strawberry, he notices she has nothing and waits for Strawberry to get her dessert. Strawberry thinks for a moment and gets an idea, grabbing an emergency cupcake from her hat and sprinkling it with some toppings. Creampuff takes a single sniff of the cupcake and is immediately won over, happily taking a bite out of it. This surprises Bread, Figgy, and her assistant. Raspberry asks Strawberry how she managed to please Creampuff, and Strawberry explains she just sprinkled the cupcake with Custard's favorite cat food, noting it’s not for human consumption. Right as she says that Figgy takes a bite of the cupcake, and finishes it before Strawberry can warn her.
Figgy wipes her mouth with a napkin and admits to Bread that he did one thing right, which makes him and the girls sigh in relief. Unfortunately, Figgy then points out that a single thing done right is not nearly enough to justify keeping him as the Berryworks manager, as she still disapproves of the “stipshop” way he runs the location. She tells Bread that she’ll replace him with a more experienced berry, which Bread tries to object to, but he ultimately ends up complying.
However, Strawberry intervenes at that moment to defend Bread. She tells Figgy that Bread is the reason the Berryworks is successful, and while she admits he drives everyberry insane sometimes, she acknowledges it’s because he wants everything to be perfect. Figgy begins to argue otherwise, but Strawberry continues to stand up for Bread, claiming the Berryworks is perfect since it’s as unique as Big Apple City, and Bread tries to help his friends, which catches Figgy off-guard. She asks if Bread really does has friends here, which the Berry Besties all confirm.
This new information makes Figgy Pudding contemplate on her decision, and she ultimately decides that while she has her issues with how Bread runs the Berryworks, if his friends approve of his methods, then she’s satisfied too, allowing him to stay. Figgy takes her leave with the inspection completed, prepared to visit Raisin Ripple Resort and Spa to see how it’s being managed.
Bread admits to the girls that they’re the best friends a manager (and an aspiring fashion icon) could have, The girls are touched by his sentiment and embrace him in a hug (except Lemon). Bread then remembers his earlier meeting with Strawberry, and asks her about what she wanted to talk to him about. After the events of today, Strawberry decides to forgo her criticizing of his micro-managing, and instead tells him that she wanted to thank him for dong a good job.
Bread accepts Strawberry’s compliment, and then proceeds to give a “helpful hint” that he can’t do everything by himself, and orders everyberry to get back to work. The girls all groan and roll their eyes, while Strawberry giggles at this, as the episode ends.

Trivia[]
- This episode introduces Bread Pudding's mother, Figgy Pudding.
- Despite Creampuff’s long eyelashes and bow, if one listens closely to Figgy Pudding’s mumbling as she leaves, she asks Creampuff “who’s a good boy?”, meaning that he’s actually a male dog rather than female.
- Bread’s breakfast he had been eating early in the episode is a sfogliatele.
Continuity[]
- When Strawberry Shortcake calls Bread Pudding her friend, Figgy Pudding decides to allow Bread to stay at the Berryworks. In Bread Pudding's New BFF, Bread revealed he didn’t have many friends in the past. As his mother, Figgy likely would have been aware of this, which explains her surprise at Strawberry's defense of Bread and her sudden change of heart.
- Lemon is the only girl to not join the group hug, as previous episodes established that she doesn’t like hugs.
- The magazine Bread was reading when Strawberry barged into his office is a fashion magazine featuring Banoffee.
References[]
- Bread saying “and her little dog too?!” when he was informed of the inspection is likely referencing The Wizard of Oz, where the Wicked Witch of The West says “I’ll get you my pretty, and your little dog too!”
- Bread Pudding has a “hang in there” cat poster on his office wall.
