Dreamy Dessert is the 31st episode of the first season of Strawberry Shortcake: Berry In The Big City. It premieres on April 9th, 2022.
Summary[]
Strawberry Shortcake dreams of the very best cupcake recipe, but she can't remember the last ingredient. Her friends are helpful and they try to find a way to remember what the ingredient is.
Plot[]
The episode begins with Strawberry Shortcake saying that she’s made the best cupcake recipe in the whole universe, and it’s just missing one special ingredient. She asks the Lucky Spoon if it agrees, to which it grows a face and a pair of arms and agrees with her. It begins whispering to her the final ingredient…
Strawberry is suddenly woken up by her alarm clock. She tells Custard about her dream of creating the berry best cupcake recipe. She mentions it had this perfect ingredient, but then realizes she can’t remember what it is.
At the Berryworks, Strawberry frantically bakes while trying to remember what the special ingredient is, as her friends watch in concern. Orange Blossom asks Strawberry if she's okay, but Strawberry says she isn’t. She explains to her friends that she came up with the cupcake recipe of her dreams, in her dreams, but can’t remember the last ingredient. Lemon Meringue has an idea and pulls out her "Dream Grabber 3000", telling Strawberry that it uses cosmic waves to absorb her nighty-nighttime thoughts (dreams) as she places it on her head. Strawberry begins to say something before getting electrocuted by the Dream Grabber. Strawberry, unamused, immediately hands it back to Lemon, who admits it’s still in beta testing.
Orange says that the situation reminds her of Issue #37 of “The Terrific Tales of Tangerine Smash”, where the titular superhero gets trapped in the Dream World by her archenemy, NightMango, and couldn't remember how to escape. Strawberry agrees with the similarities, and asks Orange how Tangerine remembered the way out. Orange tells Strawberry that her sidekick, Guava Girl, has a utility belt that gets them out of any jam. Strawberry jokes that a utility belt isn't going to help with her mental jam, and is electrocuted again. She asks Lemon how she’s still getting shocked despite not wearing the helmet. Lemon herself wonders this, questioning if it’s a bug… or a feature, as she looks at the helmet with a mischievous grin.
Lime Chiffon says that a mystery requires detective skills, saying that Inspector Sherbet Cones always retraces his steps. She asks Strawberry what she did yesterday, but Strawberry tells Lime nothing out of the ordinary happened.
Strawberry has a flashback to yesterday, where she woke up, "cleaned" her room (shoved everything under her bedroom rug, including Custard), and then had breakfast. She remembers it being toast and jam, and gets electrocuted again. Strawberry yells Lemon's name in frustration, who laughs and notes the Dream Grabber is stronger than she thought. Lime asks Strawberry what else she did and her flashbacks continue. She served her customers by throwing cupcakes at them, sung No Ordinary Berry, threw cupcakes from a hot air balloon and accidentally dropped the basket on a random berry below. The flashbacks end, and Strawberry nonchalantly tells Lime that it was a typical day.
Lime wanders off, contemplating the information given. Blueberry Muffin offers to help, dragging Strawberry over to her cart. Blueberry tells her to remember her dreams, she needs to sleep, and to sleep she needs to be zen, and to be zen she has to meditate and brings Strawberry to sit on a cushion. Blueberry begins meditating… until she realizes her friend isn't on her cushion anymore and is instead trying different flavors on her ice cream cart. Strawberry explains that she’s hoping one of the flavors can jog her memory, trying chocolate, peanut butter, and jam, then gets electrocuted again. Strawberry, annoyed, tells Lemon that the Dream Grabber should be called ”Shock Maker”. Lemon takes note of the name, and asks Strawberry if she already has a patent for it.
Cutaway: Strawberry says her friends were trying but they were not helping (seriously, not helping). She wishes that her lucky spoon (which is covered in jam) could talk. Strawberry is then electrocuted again, and begins to express irritation once more, until she notices a pattern with all her shocking.
A flashback to each time she said "jam" and got electrocuted in the episode occurs, along with a slow-motion playback of her spreading jam on her toast from her earlier flashback. Strawberry realizes that the final ingredient is jam.
Cutaway: Strawberry shouts “jam”, gets electrocuted again, and explains that the shocks were from the J-A-M. She realizes that Lemon’s machine worked and her friends did help. Strawberry decides they're going to be the first ones to taste her dream recipe. Strawberry then gets electrocuted again.
Strawberry finally bakes her perfect cupcake recipe and gives it to her friends to try it. They all eat one, and begin flying away with a rainbow trail behind them, Her friends wave at her as they ascend. The Lucky Spoon congratulates Strawberry. The episode ends with Custard flying across the screen, leaving behind a rainbow trail.

- Orange's favorite comic book superhero, Tangerine Smash, is mentioned by name for the first time. The character first "appeared" as an action figure in "Berry Merry Melody". The action figure from that episode also reappears, as Orange holds it up while explaining the NightMango story.
- Lime's mystery-solving skills are brought up again, having been previously demonstrated in "Who Stole the Pies". Her detective hat from the same episode also reappears.
