Crabapple Jam is a two part season premiere of Season 3 of Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City. It premiered on July 15th, 2023.

Strawberry Shortcake meets the new owner of the Berryworks who brings some alarming changes for Strawberry and her friends.
Plot[]
Part 1[]
Strawberry Shortcake bakes various baked goods and arrives to the Clubhouse with a silver platter, excited to watch Bite of the City and unveils a small dessert replica of Big Apple City. Raspberry Tart asks Strawberry why she's so excited for the new episode and Strawberry reveals in the confessional that Crabapple Jam is going to be a guest star on Bite of the City and talks about how Crabapple is a country person who moved to the big city to make her dreams come true, which is very similar to how and why Strawberry moves to Big Apple City. She talks to her friends Raspberry and Orange Blossom that Crabapple is going to make a big announcement on the show and turns the TV on. Crabapple announces that she's going to move to a new location for her new baking headquarters and reveals that said new baking headquarters is the Berryworks, which shocks Raspberry and Orange but awestruck Strawberry.
Orange asks if it meant that Crabapple is going to take over the Berryworks and Raspberry wonders if Bread Pudding is aware of the situation, only to hear him yell in distress. Since Crabapple has acquired the Berryworks, that means that he lost his job and is deeply upset about it. Lemon Meringue pokes him and concludes that he's broken. The rest of the group goes towards Bread, Lemon and Lime Chiffon and Lime questions about the future of the Berryworks and Huckleberry Pie thinks that everyone is going to get kicked out. Strawberry tells her friends to calm down but Blueberry Muffin informs her that when she breathes in deeply she can see things in a more calmer way and comedically and calmly tells everyone to panic, to which all of them but Strawberry, Blueberry and Sour Grapes do.
Strawberry shouts at her friends and tells them to stop. She reassures them all that everything will be fine because Crabapple is one of the nicest bakers in the city and the same country charm just like her. Shortly after talking about her, Crabapple arrives at the Berryworks greets them and shows slight concern about the group and asks if anything is wrong. Strawberry greets her back and easily gets along with the baker dues to their similar background. She understands the group's worries about her acquiring the Berryworks after what The Peculiar Purple Pieman has put them through and guarantees them that it'll be different under her management and doesn't plan to change much about the Berryworks, only to lift Raspberry's bangs up and changes her position with Blueberry. She promises them that there's nothing to worry about.
Crabapple departs as she plans to open up a restaurant and gift shop and informs the group that Cheese Strudel and Cherry Streusel will go over the new guidelines with them. Strawberry was about to ask her who they are but the two people that Crabapple mentioned immediately appears and insists the group to read the rules and that they'll love it. However, it ended up being the opposite as the new rules banned the following things from being sold: baked goods, drink, smoothies and ice cream. Sour points out that the list is very specific and the twins go and confiscates everything that didn't follow the rules while everyone else had no choice but to watch it all happen. Strawberry picks up a muffin dropped on the ground and tries to encourage her friends that they'll figure out a solution to this but Cherry takes the muffin away and almost takes Custard away with her.
Part 2[]
The beginning shows a barren Berryworks after the events that occurred earlier. Strawberry is upset about the new rules and how it's ruining the Berryworks, but is sure that if she talks about it to Crabapple nicely she'll probably understand. Though, she doesn't understand why she wants the rules to be changed as she doesn't want anyone to sell the same things she does because it'll be bad for her business. Strawberry tries to explain but Crabapple dismisses her. Strawberry is let down by her failed attempt to confront Crabapple and takes out the muffin from earlier and was going to eat it until Cheese shouts at her for holding a muffin which violates the rules. Strawberry tells him that she's eating it not selling it and he understands, but glares at her before disappearing into the bush.
She finds him weird and notices Orange sneaking into the clubhouse and follows her. She asks her friend what is happening and Orange welcomes her to The Resistance, a protest group against Crabapple's new rules. Strawberry wants to help and asks her how she can help and Orange tells her that they have posters and are planning a march but needs something bigger and asks for Strawberry's suggestions. She looks around and says that if Crabapple won't let them sell what they usually sell, they should sell something different. She notices Huckleberry mixing ice cream with another baked good and gets an idea.
She declares to her friend group that if Crabapple won't let them sell what they used to sell, they should work together to sell something new. She sings and helps making the protest happen. They all go back to their carts and trucks to bake and create something. Cherry and Cheese notices this and treis to stop them but gets stopped by the pets and Bread. After they're done they all combine their recipes together to make a combination of all of the things they're not allowed to sell and sells it anyway.
Crabapple becomes aware of what Strawberry is selling and asks them what they're doing. Strawberry tells her that what they selling is not the things she banned from being sold, but all of them combined and that they're merely respecting their rules. She finds it clever of them to do this and is quite disgusted about how popular it is without showing her actual expression to Strawberry and lets her friends sell what they used to sell and leaves dissatisfied. The episode ends with Strawberry and her friends celebrating.

- This episode marks the first speaking and proper appearance of Crabapple Jam and the debut episode of Cheese Strudel and Cherry Streusel.
- The Peculiar Purple Pieman has been mentioned in this episode, but does not appear.
