Cherry Streusel

Cherry Streusel is a secondary antagonist introduced in the third season of Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City. She and her brother Cheese Strudel are the new assistant managers of the Berryworks after Crabapple Jam acquired ownership, and work for her as her lackeys.

General[]

After Crabapple Jam acquired the Berryworks in the Season 3 premiere, she appointed Cherry Streusel and her brother Cheese Strudel as assistant managers of the Berryworks alongside Bread Pudding. The twins would enforce Crabapple's new rules on the Berry Besties, often to a very over-the-top degree. They would also participate in Crabapple's schemes, pulling off her plans as she sat back to wait for the result, though the Berry Besties would usually come out on top. The Berry Besties didn't like having to hang out with Cheese and Cherry, at best tolerating their presence. Strawberry did try to offer them friendship a few times, but they always rejected it, laughing at her for thinking they would ever want to be friends with her or her friends.

It wouldn't be until Cheese and Cherry went too far with their enforcement of Crabapple's decrees that Raspberry Tart snapped and decided to use her former mean-berry expertise to play on an even field. She purposefully broke several rules in front of the twins, and roped them into a cat-and-mouse chase that quickly proved to be more fun than frustrating. However, Raspberry revealed that was the point all along, wanting to show the twins that there was more to life than blind obedience and listening to Crabapple, and offered a hand in friendship, which they ended up accepting.

In Bake The World A Better Place, it initially seemed that Cheese and Cherry disregarded their newfound comradery with Raspberry, as they sat back and did nothing when the Berry Besties were all fired by Crabapple. However, they soon proved that she did get through to them after all when they betrayed Crabapple and revealed what she did to the citizens of Big Apple City, forcing Crabapple to give up on the Berryworks to save face. The Berry Besties, now in ownership of the Berryworks, quickly restoring the building to how it was before, and even allowed Cheese and Cherry to stay, finally making peace with the twins.

Appearance[]

Cherry has a fair complexion with blonde hair tied into twin buns that look like pastries and red highlights in her hair. She has big green eyes and dons red lipstick. She wears a red vest over a white, short-sleeved dress with a maroon belt on her waist. She also wears white socks with red frills and dark maroon Mary Jane shoes. She has a maroon choker with a cherry pendant on it.

Personality[]

Cheese Strudel and Cherry Streusel are completely identical in personality. At first, They were depicted as nothing more than very creepy twins who were blindly obedient to Crabapple Jam. When they were portrayed as such, they tended to make unhinged faces, unnatural movements, and suddenly appearing out of nowhere, which unnerved everyberry. They also did little more than enforce Crabapple's new rules. It is implied Cherry is the more bossier of the duo, as she would yell at Cheese for messing up their TikTaco dance in The Spec-taco-lar Pets.

From The Spec-taco-lar Pets onward, Cheese Strudel and Cherry Streusel were given more personality. While still mean, they began to show actual interests and quirks, such as attempting to do a TikTaco dance together. Strawberry's Perfect Present gave them a bunch of new traits, such as making weird assumptions like thinking they have to eat the papers they're given, having odd hobbies like dancing to construction noise and attempting to read each others' minds, and showing that they do have some level of good qualities when they genuinely thank Strawberry for her Secret Swirl gift.

In Confectionary Decree Number 33, they were given more of a good side as they began genuinely having fun with Raspberry Tart and becoming friends with her, realizing that they shouldn't be so blindly obedient to Crabapple Jam. In the finale Bake The World A Better Place, they finally turned against her and exposed her vile actions to the city, allowing the Berry Besties to reclaim ownership of the Berryworks and redeeming themselves.

Trivia[]

  • She is the 4th cherry themed character in the Berry in the Big City series and the 5th overall. She shares the cherry theme with Cherry Cuddler, Cherry Jam, Cherry Blossom and Cherry Crisp.
  • She and Cheese Strudel are the third set of twins in the entire franchise, the other sets being Lem and Ada and Sweet and Sour Grapes.
  • In Strawberry's Perfect Present, it is revealed Cheese and Cherry are from Germany, as they mention that a jar of sauerkraut "smelled like home".
  • While their names sound similar, strudels and streusels are completely different. Strudels are thin sheets of pastry wrapped around fruit filling, while streusels are crumbly toppings layered over pies and cakes.
