General Information[]

Crepe suzette with Cherry Cuddler (2)

In the 1980s,Cherry Cuddler was another sweet and charming baby character, known for her propensity for hugging and being hugged by her friends. In the 2003 series, she is an 8-year-old or younger (the same age as Apple) French girl and friends with Apple Dumplin'. Not a baby, but younger than Strawberry and her friends. She never made an appearance in an episode, however, a doll was made of her, where she is stated to be Crepes Suzette's sister! She had a character profile in the bonus features of some dvds. She loves cuddles and being held by the older girls, of course, and according to the set she was in, she is a dancer and loves to do ballet with her sister.

Personality[]

1980s[]

Due to her young age and late arrival, Cherry does not have much information known. She has not been shown to have much personality outside of being a sweet, affectionate little girl. Hence the "cuddler" in her name, Cherry loves hugs and her pet goose, as well as friends with babies such as Apricot, Butter Cookie, and Apple Dumplin.

2003[]

In the 2003 series, she is a peer of Apple Dumplin so she would be 8 or 9. Her sister Crepe is 16, and she plays a more motherly role since no one in Strawberry Shortcake had parents until a few parent characters were introduced in the 2021 series, Berry in the Big City. In the 2007 series she is a dancer. She loves to dance ballet with her sister. She is sweet, affectionate, and a hugger. It is unknown whether she has a French accent or not. She still has Gooseberry as a pet, but he only appeared with her in one of the special features (specifically a character guide) on the SSC DVDs released from 2008-2012.

Appearance[]

1980's[]

Cherry Cuddler is a fair-skinned girl with curled, pale pink-white hair. She has big black eyes and wears a shiny red cap on her head resembling the top half of a cherry with a green ribbon tied around her neck, along with red frills on the brim. On the side of it, a big strawberry can be seen clipped to it. Her outfit consists of a white frilly dress with white booties that have a cherry ornament on each shoe, and the normal green and white striped pair of pantyhose of the era.

2003[]

Cherry Cuddler has the same coloring as her sister, light tan skin, pastel pink hair, and purple eyes. The only difference between their features is Cherry has curly hair and Crepe has long straight hair. She has a lime green and white striped undershirt. Over it, she has a white tank, with a cherry graphic on it, and red trim. She has lime green capri jeans, and red mary janes. She wears her hair in two pigtails and the hairbands have plastic cherries on them. Her ballet outfit is a white leotard with a cherry graphic, a pink tutu, light pink tights, and lavender ballet flats. She wears her hair in a bun for dancing.

Pets[]

Cherry Cuddler is often seen with her pet goose, Gooseberry. Gooseberry has a red bonnet to match Cherry tied nicely with a blue ribbon, and has the plush appearance of a lot of 1980s pets complete with spotted green wings. Gooseberry has an otherwise normal goose appearance with a yellow beak and feet with white plumage. They're shown to be affectionate just like Cherry, and Strawberry Shortcake describes Gooseberry as a goofy goose in her Pets on Parade song. In the 2000s they take in a different appearance complete with pink feathers, a hot pink beak, darker pink wings, a cherry collar, and a modernized design.

Trivia[]

  • In Brazil, a berry different Cherry exists! Named Cerejinha, Cherry is a golden or sometimes strawberry blonde-haired girl with a pink-red bonnet, and green striped dress with a cherry on it and at the neck red coloring. The skirt part of her dress is frilly with small roses. She also has on the common pantyhose and brown shoes.
  • Etymology: Cherry Cuddler derives her name from cherry cobblers and the verb "to cuddle."
  • In the 90s version she appears to be a kid, not a baby.
