Bodybuilder Berry is a recurring extra in Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City. The character made his debut in Meet Huckleberry Pie and is often seen in the background is scenes to fill up space. He is recognizable by his huge muscles and his coincidental similarities in appearance and fashion sense to Strawberry Shortcake.
Appearance[]
Bodybuilder Berry is a short, muscular man with peach skin. He has long pink hair similar to Strawberry Shortcake, a pink horseshoe mustache, gray stubble, and a strong jawline. His upper torso is incredibly muscular with large arms and rather skinny legs. He wears a strawberry beanie, a denim-colored tank top, white shorts with green-and-white striped leggings, and pink sneakers.
History[]
- Berryworks Commercial: Seen doing a yoga class with Hippy Berry, Orange Blossom, and Blueberry Muffin, visibly struggling to keep up with them before collapsing on the ground.
- Meet Huckleberry Pie: Boarded a Funnelcake System train with groceries, Lime Chiffon mistook him for Strawberry Shortcake due to their similar hairstyle and beanie and gets separated from the real Strawberry. Briefly seen running around during the song.
- Gym Berries: At the end of Strawberry's first workout session, what appears to be her successfully lifts up an entire sack of flour, before it just turns out to be Bodybuilder Berry, while Strawberry is asleep on the ground. During Strawberry's second (and more successful) workout session, the same thing occurs, but this time Strawberry is awake and lifts up 2 sacks of flour one-handed, earning her a thumbs-up from Bodybuilder Berry.
- Bake Off: Briefly seen amongst the crowd of auditioners, and in the spectators watching the bake-off.
- Donuts and Drawbridges: When Huckleberry Pie, Bread Pudding, and Plum Pudding hailed a taxi, Bodybuilder Berry attempted to take it, not wanting to miss leg day. While they were attempting to sort things out, an elder berry took the taxi. Enraged, Bodybuilder Berry chased the trio (and Custard) until they got on a bus, at which point he began to chase after the bus as well, before they managed to lose him. After the trio delivered Strawberry her golden sprinkles at Bloomingberries, Bodybuilder burst through the doors, initially appearing as if he was going to attack the boys, before calming down and apologizing to them, saying he gets really intense about leg day. He brings up he enjoys playing D&D as well, prompting the boys to invite him to play with them. When Strawberry realizes she forgot her phone, the party sets out to retrieve it.
Trivia[]
- The Bodybuilder Berry had a speaking line in "Meet Huckleberry Pie", but his voice actor wasn't credited. It wouldn't be until "Donuts and Drawbridges" clarified that his voice actor was Vincent Tong.
- According to Michael Vogel, the show staff nicknamed him "Strawberry Beefcake".[1]
