Yes to the Dress is the fourth episode of the Strawberry Shortcake YouTube Special series. It premiered on June 7th, 2018. This episode adapts "Summer Dance Bummer" from Issue #5 of the 2016 IDW Comics.
Plot[]
The webisode begins at a stage, where Sweet Grapes is going through her dance routine while Sour Grapes is working on a machine. After finishing, Sweet voices aloud about the last part of her routine being a doozy to perform. Sweet then runs up to Orange Blossom, who had been carrying rolls of fabric up to the stage, and compliments her handiwork. Orange accepts Sweet's compliment, as she's been decorating all day, and is excited for the upcoming dance competition. Sweet mentions she's been working on her dance for months, and is sure that this year will be her greatest performance yet.
Sour walks up to the two with her machine in tow, planning to use it to help with Sweet's routine. Orange asks if it's a fog machine, and Sour tells her it's not just a fog machine, but one that produces rainbow fog. Sweet Grapes is amazed at Sour's invention, confident that the rainbow fog will blow the competition away. Sweet immediately goes to do her dance routine with the fog, still blown away by the effects, claiming it's like she's dancing on clouds. She then decides to try out her newest move, "The Unicorn", but at the last step she lands on her foot at a bad angle and falls to the ground. Sweet begins clutching her foot in pain, as Sour yells for Orange to go find Strawberry Shortcake while she checks on her sister.
Strawberry examines Sweet's ankle, and confirms that it's sprained, telling her friend she likely won't be able to walk for at least a few days. Sweet is distraught, as it means she won't be able to do her dance routine for the competition. After finishing bandaging Sweet's leg, Strawberry consoles her with a hug. Orange points out Sweet's been looking forward to the dance contest all year, and is sad that she won't get to participate. Sour is determined to find a way to fix this.
As the dance competition is underway, Sour Grapes and Raisin Cane peer outside from backstage, as Sweet Grapes mopes in.a chair nearby. Strawberry Shortcake runs up to Sweet with a berry smoothie to cheer her up, which she accepts. Orange Blossom then runs to backstage, having just finished her routine. Sweet compliments her friend's performance, and Orange is touched by the kind words, but then she admits to Raisin and Sour about how guilty she feels doing her dance while Sweet still has her sprained ankle. Raisin Cane agrees...because she promised her followers an exclusive video of Sweet Grapes' dancing, and now she has nothing since Sweet has to stay off her ankle. Sour Grapes is visibly angered at Raisin's insensitivity, but her comment on keeping off her ankle, along with the stage announcer declaring it's time for the group dance ensembles to perform, gives Sour an idea on how her sister can still participate in the competition. She tells her friends (and Raisin) to huddle up and tells them her plan. Strawberry agrees with Sour's idea, and goes to tell the judges.
Sweet Grapes notices the rainbow fog that was supposed to be for her Unicorn dance onstage, and asks Sour what's going on. Sour confirms it's the same fog, but that the dance isn't called The Unicorn anymore, and is now "The Flamingo" as she wheels her sister onstage. Sweet is surprised, but Sour tells her to go with it. The lights go out, and come back on, revealing all the girls are now onstage with Sweet Grapes, performing a new dance routine with Sweet at center stage. Sour declares it's time for the grand finale, and the girls all begin to hop on one leg, finishing out the competition to a roaring applause from the crowd. Sweet Grapes hugs Sour, telling her that the dance was brilliant and asks how she came up with it. Sour just says that a "little birdie" inspired her. The episode ends with Sweet deciding to do an encore dance of The Flamingo, with her friends joining in.
